Short Term Forecast

You know it’s going to be a hot day when the morning low is 77 degrees.  By afternoon, temperatures will top out in the mid 90s and the heat index will be over 100.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms will take the edge off the heat late in the day.  The wet weather will taper off this evening but the clouds will hang around overnight as temperatures fall off into the mid 70s.  The wet weather will be more widespread tomorrow as a cold front stalls out overhead.  Temperatures will also be a few degrees cooler tomorrow due to the showers and storms, as highs top out in the upper 80s.

Long Term Forecast

Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast Saturday through Monday, with highs holding steady in the lower 90s and lows in the low to mid 70s.  By Tuesday an upper level ridge of high pressure will develop over the Gulf Coast .  As a result any showers and storms that develop Tuesday through Thursday will be more isolated in nature.  As our rain chances decrease, our temperatures will increase.  Afternoon highs will top out in the mid 90s during this period.

Tropics

We are keeping an eye on a westward moving tropical wave over the Eastern Bahamas .  Shower activity with this system is minimal, and development is not expected.

Elsewhere tropical storm formation is not expected over the next 48 hours...
