. . .Tropical Storm Edouard Makes Landfall. . .

Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall at 7:00 AM on the upper Texas Coast, or about halfway between High Island, TX and Sabine Pass.  This is right at the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge.  Winds are sustained at 65 mph as it moves to the WNW at 14 mph.  Click here for the latest statement from the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical Storm Warnings are still in effect from Grand Isle, LA west to Sargent, Texas.

A Hurricane Watch is in effect from Intracoastal City, LA west to Sargent, Texas.

Edouard will continue to spread heavy rain and wind across eastern Texas and western Louisiana.  The storm will weaken as it moves inland throughout the day.  Flooding will still be a concern as a 2 to 4 inches of rain will be possible.  The threat for a tornado or two will be a threat.  That is very typical with any land falling tropical system.

Travel Concerns:  If you plan on traveling to the Houston area today, be sure to call your airline ahead of time as there will likely be some delays at both major airports.  I would recommend delaying your driving plans to the Beaumont, Port Arthur, or Houston areas today due to the heavy rain and gusty winds.

Local Impacts:  Here in Baton Rogue we will gradually see the clouds break up, winds diminish, and rain taper off.  However, we could see a few storms pop up this afternoon with the daytime heating and abundant moisture in place.
