Short Term:  We start this Friday off with mostly cloudy skies and even a few showers across the viewing area.  These showers are left from the ones we had yesterday, and they will gradually weaken during the early morning before developing again this afternoon.  It is a muggy morning too with temperatures in the mid 70s.

The scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop again this afternoon.  These storms will come from the combination of a weak trough of low pressure/old frontal boundary and daytime heating.  The rain could be heavy at times, and some of the storms could be strong with gusty winds.  Temperatures will be climbing into the lower 90s.

The showers will continue into the evening just like they did yesterday.  Then the skies will go partly cloudy with low temperatures falling into the mid 70s.

Weekend Forecast:  There will still remain the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms on Saturday before a ridge of high pressure at the upper-levels of the atmosphere builds in.  Most of the storms tomorrow will be during the afternoon with the peak heating of the day.  Highs will be in the lower 90s.

On Sunday, the rain chances will be pretty low (20%), so look for partly cloudy skies.  It will become very hot as that area of high pressure sits over us.  Temperatures will rise into the mid 90s.

Next Week Outlook:  That ridge of high pressure will remain over us on Monday, and the heat will continue as well.  Expect to have partly cloudy skies with only a stray storm possible.  Highs will be in the mid 90s.

On Tuesday, the forecast models are showing a weak tropical wave moving across the northern Gulf of Mexico.  At the same time, the upper-level high pressure will slide to the east, allowing the wave to move over us.  This will increase our rain chances, giving us scattered showers.  The temperatures will be down a little due to the clouds and rain.  They will only get to the lower 90s.

On Wednesday through Friday, each day we will have partly cloudy skies with isolated showers and thunderstorms.  High temperatures will remain in the lower 90s.

Tropical Update:  All areas of the tropics remain quiet, and tropical cyclone formation is not expected through Saturday.
