Short Term Forecast
What a perfect weekend spend at the pool or in air conditioning. The high temperature in
Baton Rouge
this afternoon was 98 degrees, but the heat index topped out at 109! That was hot enough to tie the record high for this date. As if that isn’t impressive enough, the low this morning was a steamy 80 degrees. The trend of oppressive heat and humidity will continue tonight and tomorrow with lows only falling off into the upper 70s. Tomorrow afternoon will be just as hot with highs in the upper 90s with the heat index running around 105 to 110 degrees. While temperatures will be unseasonably hot tomorrow, we will probably fall short of the record high which is 100 degrees. A stray shower or thunderstorm could develop during the heat of the day tomorrow, but any wet weather that does develop will be less widespread than what we saw this afternoon.

Long Term Forecast
On Tuesday high pressure will set up shop to our east and increase the moisture flow out of the Gulf of Mexico into
South Louisiana
. This will bring scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms Tuesday through Friday. Temperatures will hold steady during this period with highs in the mid 90s and lows in the mid 70s.

Tropics
The weather remains quiet throughout the tropical Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea and the
Gulf of Mexico
and tropical storm formation is not expected over the next 48 hours.
