Weather Discussion

I hope everyone managed to stay cool today!  It was a rough afternoon as temperatures soared into the mid 90s with heat indices made it well over 100 degrees.  Tomorrow and Monday will be just as hot as a large ridge of high pressure continues to shift farther east.  Both days we can expect to see highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat indices around 103 to 108.  Our only relief from the heat could come in the form of isolated showers and thunderstorms.  The upper level ridge will prevent any widespread storms from developing, but there will be enough low level moisture in place that a stray shower or storm could pop up during the heat of the day.  Unfortunately any wet weather that does pop up will be fairly isolated, so most of us will bake in the heat.

Tropics

We will be keeping an eye on a tropical wave located about 900 miles west of the Northern Leeward Islands for at least the next several days.  Upper level winds are unfavorable for development at this time, but could become more conducive in a day or two as this system drifts to the northwest at 15 to 20 mph.

Elsewhere, tropical storm development is not expected over the next 48 hours…
