Short Term Forecast
Once again we are waking up to sunshine and comfortable temperatures, but like the last three days it will turn stormy in the afternoon. The weather pattern hasn’t changed at all since Wednesday so we can expect more of the same. An upper level trough over the
Western Gulf of Mexico
will trigger showers and thunderstorms later today. Meanwhile an area of high pressure to our east will create southerly winds over
South Louisiana
and that will help push those storms inland. Like the last few days, I’m expecting a severe weather outbreak, but we could see a few strong to severe thunderstorms during the afternoon. All of the same elements will remain in place tomorrow so look for a repeat performance of today’s weather.
Long Term Forecast
On Sunday the weather pattern will shift but it will only have a minor effect on our forecast. The upper level trough responsible for this week’s stormy weather will drift off toward the
Great Lakes
. Meanwhile a cold front will stall out near the Louisiana Arkansas border. This will trigger more afternoon showers and thunderstorms Sunday through the middle of next week, but the wet weather will be a little less widespread. Temperatures will hold steady over the next seven days with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s and lows in the lower 70s.
