Weekend Update

It was certainly a noisy afternoon across South Louisiana .  Like every other day for what seems like an eternity showers and thunderstorms started popping up around lunchtime and will continue deep into the evening hours.  Earlier this afternoon a funnel cloud was reported in the town of Montegut in Terrebonne parish and localized heavy rainfall fell throughout the viewing area.  The showers and storms will start to diminish after sunset and should be mostly out of the area by 10 pm.

Tomorrow we will finally get a break in the action as a layer of dry air builds into the mid and upper levels of the atmosphere.  This will help limit thunderstorm development but I can’t rule out an isolated afternoon storm.  It will be hot and humid enough that a stray shower or thunderstorm could pop up due to daytime heating.  This pattern will continue through next week.  During this period highs will range from the low to mid 90s and lows will hold steady in the low to mid 70s.

Tropics

All areas of the Atlantic tropical basin are quiet at this time, and tropical storm formation is not expected through the weekend.
