Short Term:  It is another warm and muggy morning here in Southeast Louisiana.  Some coastal showers are showing up on the radar, otherwise it is partly to mostly cloudy as a weak cold front is sitting along the I-10 corridor.  Temperatures are in the lower 70s.

That cold front will gradually move to along the coast, and then stall this afternoon.  This will cause isolated showers and thunderstorms to develop with the daytime heating.  The bulk of the storms will be along the coast, but we will see a few inland.  Any storm could become strong with heavy rain, gusty winds and plenty of lightning.  It will be another hot day even though the front will move through.  High temperatures will be in the lower 90s.

Tonight, there will be a few evening storms, then we will have partly cloudy skies overnight.  Lows will be in the lower 70s.

Rest of the Week:  On Thursday, we will have a day with partly cloudy skies and some afternoon pop-up storms for about 20% of the area.  An area of high pressure will be sitting over us, and that is what will limit the rain chances.  High temperatures will be in the lower 90s.

On Friday, a trough of low pressure will be moving toward the Deep South as that high pressure moves to the east.  Return flow will also set up, and that means more moisture will head our way.  This will help to spark off scattered showers and thunderstorms for about 40% of our area.  These storms will likely start early in the day and continue into the evening.  It will not be a continuous rain, but plan to see rain from time to time.   Highs will be in the lower 90s.

Weekend Outlook:  On Saturday, we will continue to see that trough of low pressure sitting over us, and disturbances will move through it.  Plus, a tropical wave is expected to move across the Gulf of Mexico.  This wave is currently located across western Cuba.  Combine these two factors, and you will get scattered showers and thunderstorms once again.  Highs will be around 90.  On Sunday, that wave will be west of us, but we will still be hot and humid with scattered afternoon storms.  Temperatures will climb into the lower 90s.

Tropical Update:  A weak tropical wave is moving through the western Caribbean, and it is not expected to develop into anything.  Elsewhere. . .the tropics are still quiet, and tropical storm formation is not expected through Thursday.
