Short Term:  It is a mostly clear start to this Tuesday, and it is a muggy morning.  Temperatures are in the lower 70s.  There are some scattered showers and storms developing along the Louisiana coast.  These will stay just off shore.  However, we will get some rain around Baton Rouge this afternoon. . .

A large area of high pressure is sitting over the central Gulf of Mexico, and this is keeping us hot.  It is also going to provide us with more moisture today.  There is also a stalled cold front located along the I-20 corridor.  This will give us a mix of sun and clouds, and some scattered thunderstorms.  Some of the storms could be strong with gusty winds, heavy rain and a lot of lightning.  About 40-50% of the area will see the storms.  A hot day is expected too with high temperatures climbing into the mid 90s.

Tonight, any showers will end just after sunset, and then we will be left with partly cloudy skies.  Temperatures will fall into the lower 70s.

Week Ahead:  Rain chances now look to be lower on Wednesday and Thursday as that area of high pressure remains over us.  These days will be partly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms for about 30% of the area.  Temperatures will climb into the lower 90s.

On Friday and into Saturday, a wetter forecast is in store for us.  Both days will be partly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms.  A few disturbances will move by, and they will be setting off the storms.  Temperatures will  climb into the lower 90s.

Tropical Update:  All areas of the tropics remain quiet, and tropical storm formation is not expected through Wednesday.
