Short Term
This morning scattered thunderstorms developed over New Orleans and all along the
Louisiana
coast. That was a sure sign that the weather was going to turn active this afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms starting spreading northward late this morning and made it into
Baton Rouge
a little before 2 PM. Today’s stormy weather was brought to us by a trough of low pressure. This disturbance will pull off to our east tomorrow. As a result we will enjoy a little more sunshine and it will be a few degrees hotter as highs climb into the mid 90s. A few showers could develop tomorrow afternoon, but any rain that does fall will be the result of daytime heating and will be less widespread. Tuesday’s weather set up will be the same as tomorrow’s. As a result we can expect to see more of the same.
Long Term
A weak upper level disturbance could trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday. By Friday a ridge of high pressure will build over
South Louisiana
and that should result in quiet weather through next weekend. Highs will hold steady in the upper 80s to lower 90s and Wednesday and Thursday, and the lower 90s Friday through Sunday.
Tropics
All areas of the Atlantic basin are quiet at this time and tropical storm formation is not expected over the next 48 hours
