Short Term:  It is another muggy and steamy morning across Baton Rouge with a few clouds.  Temperatures are in the lower 70s.  Some showers have developed along the coast, and a few are moving inland.  These showers will dissipate over the next few hours before the develop again this afternoon. . .

We will have partly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms developing this afternoon for about 40% of you.  We continue to be on the backside of a ridge of high pressure that is sitting near Bermuda.  Southerly winds will continue to usher in warm and humid air from the Gulf of Mexico because of where the high is located.  There is also a tropical wave moving across the western Gulf of Mexico.  This wave will help to send deep tropical moisture our way over the next few days.  It will remain hot and humid with high temperatures in the lower 90s.

Tonight, most of the rain will dissipate once we lose the daytime heating, and then we will be left with partly to mostly cloudy skies.  Some showers may try to develop overnight just north of the tropical wave.  Lows will be in the lower 70s.

Weekend Outlook:  On Friday, that tropical wave will move inland over southern Texas, but it will be sending that moisture our way.  That will lead to us getting numerous showers and thunderstorms.  Some of these storms will contain heavy rain.  When its not raining, it will be mostly cloudy.  High temperatures will only be in the upper 80s because of the rain and clouds.

Saturday will be partly sunny, and soggy with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms.  About 60-70% of the viewing area will see the rain.  Once again, we could have heavy rain at times.  High temperatures will be in the upper 80s.

That deep tropical moisture will be moving west of us by Sunday, and that will help to gradually lower the amount of rain we will get.  Only scattered thunderstorms are expected for about 50% of the area.  High temperatures will still be in the upper 80s.

Next Week Outlook:  A ridge of high pressure looks to build back in across the Deep South starting on Monday and last through mid-week.  This will lead to much lower rain chances, or just some stray afternoon pop-up thunderstorms.  Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and hot with daily highs in the lower 90s.

Tropical Update:  We are watching a few tropical waves.  The first one is in the western Gulf of Mexico, but it is not forecast to develop into anything.  This is the one that will give us some pretty good rains.  The second one is located along the Windward Islands.  This one is also weak, and not forecast to develop into anything at this time.  It will bring some pretty good rains to the Islands.

Elsewhere. . .tropical storm formation is not expected through Friday.
