Short Term: We begin this Tuesday morning with partly cloudy skies, and isolated showers and thunderstorms across the viewing
area. These areas of rain are coming from the coast and moving inland. There is also a very large complex of thunderstorms over north Louisiana, and it is moving southeast. These storms will help to set off a few more storms later today. Otherwise, it is warm and steamy with temperatures in the lower 70s.
This afternoon will be another one with scattered showers and thunderstorms. More moisture is in place today verses last week when we were drier. Southeasterly winds have been ushering in the tropical moisture, and making it more humid. Daytime heating, the complex of storms in north Louisiana this morning, and outflow boundaries from yesterday's storms will help to give us isolated to scattered storms this afternoon. About 30-40% of the area will see rain. Rain could be heavy at times, and there could be a lot of lightning with the storms. It will still be hot and humid with highs in the lower 90s, and the Heat Index around 95 to 100 at times.
The storms will last into the evening, but will dissipate around sunset. Then we will have partly cloudy skies. It will be warm and muggy with lows in the lower 70s. Coastal showers will develop once again overnight and last into Wednesday morning.
Week Ahead: On Wednesday, we will have a few showers in the morning, but then scattered thunderstorms as we get into the afternoon. These storms will form from the daytime heating, outflow boundaries form the storms today, and a weak sea breeze. High temperatures will be around 90.
More deep tropical moisture will move toward the northern Gulf Coast by Thursday and Friday, and this will lead to a better coverage of rain across the viewing area. You can expect showers and thunderstorms on those days for about 60-70% of the area. High temperatures will be held down a little because of the clouds and rain as they only get to the upper 80s.
Tropical Update: All areas remain quiet, and tropical storm formation is not expected through Wednesday.
