Short Term:  The cold front is still located to the west of Baton Rouge, and ahead of it numerous showers and thunderstorms are found.  There is also another disturbance that formed along the front, and it is riding along it.  This is aiding in the development of the rain and storms.  This area of rain extends from Louisiana south into the Gulf of Mexico.  The rain could get heavy at times, and any severe weather will be confined to the coastal Parishes.  Rainfall totals will be around 1-2" for the day in Baton Rouge.  Temperatures are in the lower 70s.

The rains will gradually come to an end by the late afternoon as the cold front moves through.  We will then be left with mostly cloudy skies, and a somewhat cooler day.  High temperatures will only get to around 80.

Tonight the skies will become partly cloudy, and the temperatures will become cool!  Lows will drop into the upper 50s.  It will be a nice, cool and refreshing night!

Weekend Forecast:  An area of high pressure will build in across the Deep South this weekend.  This will allow us to dry out, and it will bring in some less humid air.  On Saturday you can expect to have partly cloudy skies with high temperatures in the lower 80s.  It will be just as nice on Sunday, but it will be a little warmer with highs in the mid 80s.

Next Week Outlook:  The pleasant and dry weather will continue into the first part of next week.  Monday and Tuesday will be partly cloudy, but pretty warm with highs in the upper 80s.

On Wednesday, a disturbance will move through along with a weak cold front.  This will set off some isolated showers for about 30% of the area.  It will remain warm with highs in the mid 80s.  The rains will end on Thursday, and we will then go partly cloudy with highs in the upper 80s.

Areas Rivers:  Local rivers have been running high, but all flood warnings have been cancelled as the rivers have crested.  This includes the Comite, and Amite.  However, the Tangipahoa River in Robert is still running about flood stage, but has also crested will will fall throughout the day.

Mississippi River Levels:  The Mississippi River is SLOWLY fallingClick here for the latest on the Flood Warnings.  Here are the latest stages as of this morning:
