Weekend Update

We got an early taste of summer today.  High temperatures this afternoon were only in the upper 80s in most locations, but heat indices were in the low to mid 90s.  Strong southerly winds helped pull in hot and humid conditions from the Gulf of Mexico .  This heat and humidity helped fuel strong to severe thunderstorms to our north in parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi and Tennessee .  These storms are riding along a strong area of low pressure over Eastern Kansas .  This low pressure system will help push a cold front across South Louisiana early tomorrow morning.  As this front makes its way across our area this could set off scattered showers and thunderstorms late tonight and tomorrow morning.  By the afternoon the clouds will start to break up as temperatures rebound into the mid 80s.  Tomorrow night we will really feel the effects of that cold front as temperatures fall off into the lower 50s.  Monday will be a gorgeous day with plenty of sunshine and highs in the lower 80s.
