Short Term: On this Wednesday morning we have mostly clear skies and some patchy fog has developed. Visibilities are still
pretty high, and should remain high. It is still a little cool with temperatures in the lower 60s.
This afternoon, an upper-level low will move out of west Texas and move to the northeast over Missouri. As this happens, showers and thunderstorms will develop as a cold front forms from the low. This cold front will move toward Louisiana, but the storms will remain over the northern part of the state. Here in Baton Rouge will be have a mix of clouds and sun, and it will become breezy as the low-level jet stream moves over us. It will be warmer with afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
Tonight, the skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. It will be mild and muggy, and a stray shower will be possible as that cold front nears us. Low temperatures will be in the upper 60s.
Rest of the Week: On Thursday, the cold front will move across Baton Rouge, but it will fall apart as that happens. We will have
partly sunny skies, but there will be a chance for a shower or thunderstorm. Most of you will not see any rain, but since it will be very warm and humid, there will be just enough moisture in the atmosphere for a shower. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s.
As we get into Friday and Saturday, we will have partly cloudy skies and it will be hot! Yes, that is right, HOT! It will definitely feel like summer with high temperatures around 90 both days. Any relief from the heat could come from an afternoon pop-up thunderstorm, but they will be few and far between. Low temperatures each day will be around 70.
On Sunday, a cold front will move through the state once again. This front will be a little stronger than the one on Thursday. With that in mind, isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible. It will remain warm with highs in the mid 80s.
