Short Term:  We are starting this Tuesday off with partly cloudy skies, and cool temperatures around 60.  It is a perfect morning for that walk or run!

Clouds will be increasing by the afternoon hours.  This is all from the storms that are over Texas again this morning.  As the storms move to the east, they are running into a drier air mass.  This causes them to fall apart and dissipate.  However, they will be sending plenty of clouds over us just like they did yesterday.  This will make for a tricky forecast again today.  It all depends on how much sun we get - if we get more later this morning, then we should get out temperatures into the lower 80s.  If the clouds roll in fast, we will struggle to hit 80 just like yesterday.  Overall, I will go with partly sunny skies, and highs in the lower 80s.

Tonight, the clouds will stick around, and the winds will be coming out of the south as the area of high pressure that is sitting over us, moves to the east.  This will keep our temperatures up a bit as the lows only fall into the lower 60s.

Week Ahead:  With the area of high pressure off to the east of us, southerly winds will persist tomorrow, and it could become quite breezy too.  You can expect to have a mix of sun and clouds, and there could be a few pop-up afternoon storms.  High temperatures will be in the mid 80s.

On Thursday, a weak cold front will move across the state.  As it does, it will be weakening, but could have enough energy to set off isolated showers and thunderstorms.  If the storms persist, a few of them could become strong.  It will remain warm with highs in the upper 80s.

Don't expect a cool down with that front on Friday and Saturday.  We will actually warm up with partly cloudy skies, and a few pop-up afternoon storms.  High temperatures will remain in the upper 80s with lows near 70.  Some places will actually get to around 90!  It will definitely feel like summer by the end of the week!

Mississippi River Levels:  The Mississippi River has Crested in all locations and the river is SLOWLY falling.  You can still expect flooding to occur for some time.  River Flood Warnings remain in effect until the river goes below flood stage.  Click here for the latest on the Flood Warnings.  Here are the latest stages as of this morning:

Baton Rouge:  40.2 feet.  Flood Stage is at 35 feet, however, we are protected by the levees that go to around 45 feet.

Red River Landing:  57.4 feet.  Flood Stage is at 48 feet.

Donaldsonville:  29.4 feet.  Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
