Short Term: What a beautiful weekend we had!!! I have great news too...we will continue to see the nice weather for much of this
week!! This morning we have clear skies and cool temperatures in the upper 50s! It is very comfortable.
This afternoon will be pleasant with partly cloudy skies. To the west of Baton Rouge, a warm front will be moving up from the Gulf of Mexico. The warm front is coming from the tail end of the cold front that came through on Saturday. This warm front is setting off scattered showers and thunderstorms over Texas this morning, and it will be raining there for much of the day. We will remain dry and partly cloudy with seasonably warm temperatures in the lower 80s.
Tonight, some of those showers may make it over to Baton Rouge. Most of you will not see any, but there is a chance they could get here overnight. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and cool with temperatures in the upper 50s.
Week Ahead: High pressure will be moving to the east of us tomorrow, and that means southerly winds will return to the state.
This will cause us to slowly warm up, but also become more humid. On Tuesday, we will have partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower 80s.
As the moisture slowly increases, we will have the chance for some pop-up afternoon thunderstorms each day. These would be just like the ones we have in the summer. Not all of you will see the rain, only about 20% each day. Temperatures will be climbing into the mid and upper 80s through the rest of the week. Lows will be in the 60s. The next best chance for rain will be on Sunday as a weak cold front moves through.
Mississippi River Levels: The Mississippi River has Crested in all locations and the river is SLOWLY falling. You can still expect flooding to occur for some time.
