Short Term:  It is an unseasonably cool start to the morning, and we will have temperatures fall close to the record low!  We have clear skies with good radiational cooling and this has lead to temperatures falling into the upper 40s.  The record low is 47 set back in 1965.  You might want that light jacket as you head out the door!

This afternoon will be another beauty with plenty of sunshine.  A large area of high pressure will be building in across the area today behind a weak, and dry cold front.  This front will not have any impact on the weather other than keeping is a little cooler than it usually is for this time of the year.  High temperatures will climb into the upper 70s.

Once again tonight we will have a very cool night with clear skies.  Low temperatures will fall to near 50, but this is far from the record low of 42.

Week Ahead:  That area of high pressure will move further to the east starting on Wednesday.  This will shift the winds from the north to more southeasterly.  This will allow for more moisture to come back to the Deep South, and it will start warming us up.  We will have partly cloudy skies with high temperatures in the lower 80s.

The southerly winds and warm temperatures will continue on Thursday.  Expect partly cloudy skies and afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid 80s.

On Friday, a cold front will make its way into Louisiana.  This will set off scattered showers and thunderstorms, and some of the storms could have heavy rain late in the day.  It will remain warm with temperatures in the 80s.  The cold front will move through by Saturday afternoon, and that will put an end to the rain.  Do not look for a cool down with this cold front as temperatures will remain in the 80s behind it.

Sunday will be a drier day, but still warm with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the lower 80s.

Mississippi River Levels:  The Mississippi River is still CRESTING, or has Crested in all locations.  However, it will take a number of days for the river levels to fall.  You can still expect flooding to occur for some time.  Here are the latest stages as of this morning:

Baton Rouge:  42.8 feet.  A River Flood Warning has been issued for this location.  Flood Stage is at 35 feet, however, we are protected by the levees that go to around 45 feet.  Click here for the latest on the Flood Warnings.

Red River Landing:  60.5 feet.  Flood Stage is at 48 feet, and a River Flood Warning is in effect here as well.

Donaldsonville:  31.3 feet.  Flood stage is 27.0 feet.  A River Flood Warning is in effect for here as well.
