Short Term Forecast
The slow-moving cold front that triggered this weekend’s stormy weather finally pushed off to the east, and high pressure will build in behind it. Rain showers will diminish this evening and the clouds will start to diminish around daybreak and will completely exit the region by tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures will turn cooler behind this front with overnight lows falling off into the mid to upper 50s. The relatively cooler weather will last through tomorrow as highs only recover into the mid 70s and tomorrow night will fall off into the upper 40s.
A Mid-Week Warm-Up
A broad area of high pressure will be our dominant weather feature through Thursday. In addition to bringing us sunshine through most of the week, it will also help bump our temperatures back up into the 80s. On Tuesday the high system will slowly push off to our east. South winds on the backside of that high will draw warmer temperatures back into the News 2 viewing area with highs rebounding into the lower 80s on Tuesday and the mid 80s on Thursday. Another frontal system could set off a few afternoon showers on Friday and Saturday but high pressure will regain control and bring more sunshine by next Sunday.
