A Cold Short Term Forecast
Temperatures struggled to make it into the 70s both days this weekend, and the coldest weather is still on its way. Tonight we will get a reinforcing shot of cold air and temperatures will fall off into the lower 40s. Tomorrow highs will only rebound into the mid 60s and overnight will fall off into the mid 30s, making it feel more like the middle of January than the middle of April. The unseasonably cold weather will stick around through Tuesday as highs once again will hover around the mid to upper 60s.
A Warmer Long Term Forecast
On Wednesday warmer weather will make a return to South Louisiana. A broad area of high pressure to our north will finally slide off to our northeast. This will set us up with strong southerly winds in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Temperatures will rebound into the mid 70s on Wednesday and by Friday highs will return to the 80s. Sunshine will be abundant through most of the week except on Friday. A frontal system will move in from the west and that could trigger a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms on the last day of the workweek.
