. . .Tornado Watch in effect until 6:00 PM. . .

WW0164 RADAR Thumbnail ImageThe Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch for the north and northwest part of our viewing area.  This includes East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, East Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, Iberville, St. Helena, and Wilkinson, Amite and Pike Counties in Mississippi.

A squall line of thunderstorms is expected to move across our viewing area today.  Some of the storms will be strong to severe with the main threats being damaging winds, and a few tornadoes.  With daytime heating, and plenty of moisture in place, the atmosphere is becoming very unstable through the morning, and into the evening.  The bulk of the storms will move through during the afternoon Current Day 1 Convective Outlook graphic and texthours, and into the evening commute.

As Meteorologist Chris Stevens has been telling you today, we are in a Slight Risk for severe weather across the Baton Rouge area.  The bulk of the severe weather will remain north of Baton Rouge, or across much of North Louisiana and into Mississippi.  Click on the image to the right to see the latest from the Storm Prediction Center.
