Weather Discussion

The Weather Turns Unsettled

We are now entering a period of unseasonably warm and unsettled weather that will last through Tuesday. An area of high pressure has set up camp just off the Eastern Seaboard, and that is setting us up with strong southerly winds in the mid and lower levels of the atmosphere. Meanwhile a very slow moving frontal system will stall out just to our north. The south winds will keep us warm and humid while the cold front to our north will act as a lifting mechanism for that warm air and that will help trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening hours. Any rain that we receive today will be isolated and fairly light. Tomorrow will be our best chance for rain with about 40-50% of us receiving showers and thundershowers during the afternoon and evening. The wet weather will be fairly isolated on Sunday and Monday and a little more widespread on Tuesday. High temperatures will remain fairly steady right around the 80 degree mark during this period.

A Little More Quiet by the Middle of Next Week

High pressure will move back into South Louisiana on Wednesday and will stick around through the end of the week. This will result and quiet and less humid weather. Temperatures will top out in the upper 70s Wednesday through Friday.
