Short Term: The squall line of thunderstorms has moved well east of Baton Rouge this morning, but some lingering showers will persist into the late morning. Otherwise, it is cloudy as the clouds and rain wrap around the backside of an area of low pressure that is located over Arkansas. Temperatures are in the mid 60s.
As the area of low pressure moves to the northeast, the wrap around clouds and showers will gradually come to an end. The clouds will decrease as dry air returns to the region. However, it will be a much cooler day with high temperatures holding steady in the mid 60s. Actually, our high temperature occurred at midnight when it was 77 degrees.
Tonight, the skies will become mostly clear, and it will much colder. Lows will fall into the lower 40s.
Rest of the Week: High pressure will build in across the Deep South on Thursday, and this will make for some beautiful weather! Expect plenty of sunny skies, and mild temperatures around 70. On Good Friday, we will still have plenty of sun, but it will be warmer with highs in the mid 70s.
Easter Weekend: A weak and dry cold front will move through on Saturday morning. You will not be able to tell except for a few
clouds that will develop. It will still be warm too with highs in the mid 70s. However, on Easter Sunday, a second cold front will move through. This front will have some moisture to work with, so we can expect to have a few showers late in the day, and overnight into Monday. Only about 30-40% of the area will see the rain. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy with highs in the lower 70s, and much of the day will be nice!
Weather Road Show School Tour: I will be headed to West Baton Rouge Parish this afternoon to meet with the 4th graders at Devall Middle School! I'm looking forward to meeting them all, and talking about Louisiana Weather!!
