Short Term:  We are starting off this Thursday morning with clear skies, and chilly temperatures in the lower 40s.  Be sure to grab that warm coat as you head out to work or school.

Clouds will be on the increase throughout the afternoon.  A cold front will be moving toward Louisiana, and an area of low pressure will be developing along the Texas Coast.  There will also be a warm front moving up from the Gulf of Mexico.  As that area of low pressure develops, scattered showers will form over Texas, and along their coast.  The low will gradually move toward the Louisiana coast late today.  It will be mild here with highs in the upper 60s.

Tonight,  the warm front will head toward our coast, but it doesn't look to move too far inland as that low moves to the north and east.  Scattered showers will move across Louisiana, and we could have a few thunderstorms as well.  Rain could be heavy at times.  Low temperatures will fall to the upper 40s.

Weekend Outlook:  On Friday, the low will move inland around the central Gulf Coast.  Periods of rain will move over Baton Rouge, and it could still be heavy at times.  Forecast models show anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of rain will be possible across south Louisiana.  The bulk of the rain will after midnight tonight, and into the morning rush hour.  Severe Weather is not expected at this time, but a few storms could be strong with gusty winds and small hail.  As the low moves to the northeast, a cold front will sweep across the state.  This will put an end to the rain, but it will make for a chilly day.  High temperatures will only be in the mid 50s.

High pressure will then build in for Saturday and Sunday.  This will provide mostly sunny skies, and very pleasant conditions.  It will be a cool day on Saturday with highs only in the mid 50s, and lows in the lower 30s.  Southerly winds return on Sunday, and we climb back into the mid 60s.

Next Week Outlook:  Monday and Tuesday look to be partly cloudy and dry.  They will also be unseasonably warm with highs in the lower 70s.  On Wednesday, our next cold front will move through, and this will set off scattered showers and thunderstorms.  It will be warm with highs in the 70s before it moves through.
