Short Term: BRRRRR!!!! It is a cold morning across the Baton Rouge area! We have clear skies, and temperatures have fallen to the lower and mid 30s. Some of you may have a little frost, and it is
likely for you in southern Mississippi as McComb has fallen into the 20s. Be sure to dress warmly as you head out the door this morning! However, you may not want the jacket this afternoon. . .
High pressure will be sliding to the east of us this afternoon. That will cause the winds to come out of the south, and this will slowly start warming us up. There will be plenty of sunshine today with highs in the upper 60s. If you are headed to the LSU 3:00 PM baseball game, then you can expect temperatures in the 60s.
Tonight, the skies will be mostly clear and it will not be as cold because of the southerly winds. Low temperatures will fall to the lower 40s.
Rest of the Week: A cold front will be making its way toward Baton Rouge on Thursday. Ahead of it, an area of low pressure will be forming over Texas, and this will head toward the Louisiana coast by the overnight hours. We will see a few showers popping up during the late afternoon. Otherwise, it will be partly sunny and warm with highs in the upper 60s. On Thursday night,
the cold front will be entering Louisiana, and that low will be along our coast. Scattered showers are expected. Lows will be in the upper 40s.
On Friday, the cold front will move across Baton Rouge. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will roll through starting in the morning hours, and continuing into the afternoon. Severe weather is not expected at this time, but a few storms could be strong with gusty winds, and heavy rain. Some of the computer models are calling for 1 to 3 inches of rain from this system. Temperatures will be cooler as they only climb into the upper 50s. Skies will become mostly clear by Friday night, and lows will be in the mid 30s.
Weekend Outlook: High pressure will settle over the Southeast U.S. This will give us mostly sunny skies all weekend. It will be a cool Saturday with highs in the upper 50s. However, we will warm it back up on Sunday with highs in the mid 60s.
Next Week Outlook: The nice weather will last into Monday through Wednesday with partly cloudy skies. It will be warmer with highs in the lower 70s.
