Big Changes on the Way

The area of high pressure that brought this weekend’s sunshine and unseasonably warm weather has moved out to sea.  Meanwhile a cold front is encroaching on us from the west.  Severe thunderstorms developed ahead of this front today in Oklahoma and Texas .  Showers and storms will start popping up in our area tomorrow afternoon and continue into the evening.  Some of these storms could even turn severe.  For that reason the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has deemed our area a moderate risk for severe weather.

On Tuesday that cold front will have pushed off to the east and high pressure and colder temperatures will move in behind it.  That will bring decreasing clouds, but high temperatures won’t even make it out of the 50s.

A Late Week Temperature Roller Coaster

It will turn warmer on Wednesday as the area of high pressure responsible for Tuesday’s clear out pushes off to our east.  This will cause our winds to shift and come out of the south and that will allow highs to rebound into the mid to upper 60s.  Thursday will be just as warm, but another cold front will move through late in the day.  That could set off a few afternoon showers.  This will also lead to colder temperatures on Friday as highs will struggle to make it out of the 50s.
