WBRZ News 2 Wins Six Associated Press Awards

The Louisiana Associated Press has recognized WBRZ News 2 Louisiana as the recipient of 6 major awards including Best Weathercast.

The Associated Press awarded WBRZ Chief Forecaster Pat Shingleton first place honors for Best Weathercast.  Shingleton is the Chief Forecaster for News 2 at 4, 5, 6 and 10pm. This is his 8th time receiving the award.  WBRZ Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum received 3rd place in the category. 

The Associated Press also awarded WBRZ’s Dana Hackett 2nd place for Reporter of the Year. In addition, Hackett received 2nd place Story of the Year for her report, “Justice for Megan”. WBRZ photojournalist Tommy Harris shot the story. 

WBRZ’s 2une In and News 2 at Noon anchor John Pastorek received 3rd place for Best In-Depth Series for his series “Reduce Your Risk.”  The piece profiled methods for preventing heart disease. The WBRZ photojournalist on the story was Chris Sasser. 

The Associated Press also awarded WBRZ’s Michael Cauble 3rd place honors for Best Sportscast.  Cauble is WBRZ’s Sports Director and anchors weekdays at 6 and 10 pm. 

The awards were presented at the Associated Press Awards banquet held Saturday, June 13, 2009, at White Oak Plantation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
