Heat buckles lane on Corporate Boulevard

Excessive heat has caused a buckle in the road at Corporate Boulevard eastbound at Towne Center, city-parish officials said Tuesday.
Chief traffic engineer Ingolf Partenheimer said city-parish officials became aware of the road problem Sunday morning and are working to replace the concrete.
The heat has caused the road’s concrete plates to shift and hit each other, causing parts of concrete to rise over other parts of the concrete, Partenheimer said.
He compared a road buckle to a “long pothole.”
The outside lane of the road has been closed but the inside lane is fine and has been opened to motorists, Partenheimer said.
Road buckles occur in the summer because of the heat but happen infrequently, he said.
