Michael Marsh rejoined the WBRZ team in August of 2005. He is the co-anchor at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. Michael previously anchored the weekend newscasts after returning to WBRZ in August. From 1977 to 1982, Michael served as both a reporter and a weekend anchor at the station.
Michael was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from LSU. With more than 30 years of broadcast experience, he has worked at stations KPIX-TV in San Francisco, KMGH-TV in Denver, WSB-TV in Atlanta, WBTV in Charlotte, and WDSU-TV in New Orleans. Immediately prior to rejoining the WBRZ team, Michael served as the co-anchor at 5pm, 6pm, and 10 pm for WCIA-TV in Champaign, Illinois.
While working at several of these stations, Michael received numerous newscast awards. He also won the UPI Award for Economics Reporting.
“Michael brings decades of journalistic experience from around the nation and right here in Louisiana. He’s covered the folks in our area, knows Louisiana and lives in Baton Rouge. It’s truly a homecoming,” said WBRZ Director of News Chuck Bark.
Michael now resides in Baton Rouge with his wife. When Michael is not working, he enjoys reading about history, playing golf, and gardening. He’s also an avid sports fan, especially any sports involving LSU.
