Dana Hackett is a WBRZ news reporter. She joined the WBRZ News 2 Louisiana team in September of 2007.
Dana was born in Richmond, Virginia and grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dana began her career while in college, working as a news writer and assignment desk editor at News 14 Carolina. She also interned at WTVD in Durham, North Carolina and at UNC-TV, the state’s public broadcasting station. She eventually took a job as a news reporter/anchor at WVIR NBC29 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Dana has received several awards from the Hearst Journalism Awards Program and has also been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists.
Dana’s motivation for journalism comes from her desire to give a voice to people whose stories aren’t heard. “Journalism is about making a difference in people’s lives by giving attention to issues that need to be fixed.”
She now resides in Baton Rouge. When not reporting the news, Dana enjoys playing several instruments, such as the flute, piccolo, and piano.
