Dana Hackett is a WBRZ news reporter. She joined the WBRZ News 2 Louisiana team in September of 2007.
Dana was born in Richmond, Virginia and grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dana began her career as an intern at WTVD in Durham, North Carolina and at her college station, UNC-TV. She then gained work experience at News 14 Carolina in Raleigh as a news writer and assignment desk editor. She eventually took a job as a news reporter/anchor at WVIR NBC29 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Dana has received several awards for her journalism work from the Hearst Journalism Awards Program and has also been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists.
“I knew I wanted to be on television since I was a little girl. Growing up I ‘played news’ with my parents video camera,” says Dana. “Being a journalist allows me to interact with people and tell the stories that normally wouldn’t get heard, ultimately, making a difference in peoples’ lives.”
Dana now resides in Baton Rouge. When not reporting the news, she enjoys playing several instruments, such as the flute, piccolo, and piano.
