KANSAS CITY, Mo. — New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister scored the 53rd touchdown of his eight-year career, tying Dalton Hilliard’s franchise mark, in the New Orleans Saints’ 30-20 win Sunday over Kansas City.
McAllister’s 1-yard TD run with 11:23 to play in the second quarter gave the Saints a 10-7 advantage and they never trailed again.
McAllister has 47 rushing and five receiving TDs and another score on a fumble recovery and return. Hilliard had 39 rushing TDs and 14 receiving from 1986-93.
“It’s pretty special,” said McAllister. “Probably once it’s all said and done, you’ll really appreciate it more. But it’s definitely an accomplishment, something you think about when you start playing the game.”
The Saints went more than 11 quarters without a sack before defensive end Will Smith got the first of his team’s four sacks of Tyler Thigpen on the final play of the first period.
Before that, the Saints’ last sack came in Week 7 when defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy got to Carolina’s Jake Delhomme in the first quarter. After that, the Saints did not record a sack against San Diego and Atlanta.
After a 47-yard TD reception from Brees early in the third quarter, Saints wide receiver Lance Moore passed on his usual end-zone dance.
“The last celebration I had cost me a little bit of money, so I decided to just stare at the crowd, give a couple of high-fives and walk off the field,” said Moore, who was fined $10,000 for sliding into the back corner of the end zone after a touchdown grab against San Diego in London on Oct. 26. “There was nothing crazy out there today.”
When asked if he had to pay in dollars or pounds, since the game was played in London, he said, “Dollars. If it were pounds, I’d probably still be crying right now.”
The Saints’ inactives were RB Reggie Bush (knee), C Jonathan Goodwin (knee), FB Mike Karney (knee), CB Aaron Glenn (ankle), WR David Patten, T Jermon Bushrod and CB David Pittman. Joey Harrington was the third quarterback.
