Broadmoor, Dutchtown, St. Amant among winners

Broadmoor, Dutchtown and St. Amant high schools were winners Thursday as the bidistrict round of the volleyball playoffs unfolded.

BROADMOOR 3, EDNA KARR 1: Laina Spencer had 17 assists and eight digs, with Nygia Brazier adding eight kills, four digs and two aces and Laraven Skidmore four kills and four blocks to pace Broadmoor (30-9) to a 25-19, 22-25, 25-9, 25-15 victory in Division II action.

DUTCHTOWN 3, CARENCRO 2: In Dutchtown, Ryan Hamilton’s 30 assists and six aces helped Dutchtown (24-12) to a Division I victory by scores of 20-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17, 15-12.

Also for Dutchtown, Justine Tureau added 22 digs, while Haley Burns had 16 digs, 10 kills and nine aces.

ST. AMANT 3, SULPHUR 0: In St. Amant, Kayla Young had 12 kills and nine digs, while Elena Villar had six kills and three digs and Sami Marchand 21 assists, 10 digs and three aces as St. Amant (21-18) swept to victory by scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-19 in a Division I win.

Kelli Mancil led Sulphur (14-18) with 13 assists and six kills.

SLIDELL 3, DENHAM SPRINGS 2: In Denham Springs, Quinci Hayward had 18 kills, Hannah Gambrell 17 kills and Sarah Tate 31 assists to power Slidell (19-14) to a 24-26, 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 15-7 victory in Division I.

DSHS (18-13) was led by Katie Roux (11 kills, 24 digs), Mallory Stout (10 kills, six aces, seven digs) and Olivia Harriman (18 digs, two assists).

NORTHSIDE 3, MCKINLEY 2: Srakeisha Jones had 19 kills, seven digs and four blocks to pace Northside to a 25-11, 17-25, 18-25, 25-10, 15-6 win in Division II.

Breanna Riggins, Tamara Williams and Amber Bennett each had 10 kills to lead McKinley (13-14).

DELCAMBRE 3, HOSANNA CHRISTIAN 0: Hosanna Christian (15-12), which got seven kills and two blocks from Kelli Kedroske, fell 25-16, 25-14, 25-11 in Division V.

CHRISTIAN LIFE ACADEMY 34, ASCENSION CATHOLIC 28 (OT): In Donaldsonville, Kevin Wright’s 10-yard touchdown run lifted Christian Life to its first District 8-1A victory of the season.
