Parkview Baptist scored 20 points in the second quarter and coasted to a 35-0 victory over Baker.

Brandon Johnson scored touchdowns on runs of 16 and 43 yards and the Eagles’ defense forced four turnovers on a muddy Parkview field Friday night to set the stage for a highly anticipated Week 10 game.

Third-ranked Parkview (7-1, 3-0 in District 7-3A) will play second-ranked Redemptorist (8-0, 3-0) on Thursday at RHS for the district title.

“I’m glad to get to that point now where we can actually talk about the Redemptorist game,” Parkview coach Kenny Guillot said.

“It’ll be a playoff atmosphere. It’s a great rivalry with great respect between the players and coaches of both programs. Win or lose, both teams move on to the playoffs, so that’s another good thing.”

Parkview recorded its first shutout of the season. Baker (2-6, 1-2) had trouble sustaining drives and holding onto the football.

Parkview led 27-0 at the half. The second half was played with a running clock. Senior Drew Dileo scored on a 19-yard run with 9:16 remaining in the third quarter. Dileo passed to Johnson for two points and the final scoring of the game.

Parkview seniors Austin Jones and Adam Roethele and sophomore Adam Smith Recovered fumbles. The latter two recoveries led to Parkview scores.

Roethele recovered a fumble by Baker punt returner Derek Raby. Raby fell to his back as he got a hand on the ball fielding a punt late in the first quarter. Parkview took over at the Baker 17-yard line, and three plays later quarterback Brady Wilson scored on 17-yard run as Parkview led 13-0 with 11:11

remaining in the second quarter.

On Parkview’s next possession, Baker quickly forced a punt.

Parkview’s Bradley Wing punted and on a normal night his punt would have rolled into the end zone for a touchback. Friday, it landed on the 6 in a puddle and stopped there.

Parkview’s defense forced a punt four plays later. Baker punter Spencer Brown briefly bobbled the snap, recovered it and lost it again in the air. Parkview had a punt block called and Smith charged the play and recovered the ball in the air for a TD. Neil Scott kicked the PAT and Parkview led 20-0.
