Webster lifts Lutcher by Hahnville in two OTs

HAHNVILLE — Quarterback Gavin Webster scored on a 9-yard run in the second overtime period, giving Lutcher High a 42-34 road victory over second-ranked Hahnville on Friday night.

Webster rushed for 303 yards on 32 carries and scored five TDs to power the unbeaten Bulldogs (3-0), ranked third in Class 4A.

Hahnville (2-1) scored twice in the final five minutes to send the game into overtime.

Alfred Blue, who finished with 135 yards on 28 carries, scored on a 5-yard run with 4:32 remaining. Brion James then tied the game at 34-34 with a 41-yard field with two seconds left.

Daniel Taylor added 79 rushing yards on 10 carries for Lutcher. Webster also completted 7-of-12 passes for 72 yards.

HHS’ Brian Ensminger completed 17 of 29 passes for 339 yards with two TDs.

PORT ALLEN 42, OPELOUSAS 20: In Port Allen, host PAHS scored 34 unanswered points, thanks in large part to return specialist-defensive back Andre Hal.

Hal, who is committed to Vanderbilt, had 306 yards in kick-punt returns. He returned kickoffs 82 and 91 yards and also had a 61-yard punt return for a TD.

Devin Payne ran for 78 yards on 11 carries for the Pelicans (2-1). Quarterback L.J. Parker also had two rushing TDs.

CLINTON 36, JACKSON 0: In Jackson, Hendrick Taylor passed for two TDs and ran for another to keep Clinton (3-0) unbeaten.

Clinton’s Courtney Matthews had two catches for 119 yards, including a 77-yarder for a TD. Joseph Robinson ran for 71 yards on 16 carries and also caught a 38-yard TD reception from Taylor.

NORTHEAST 13, TARA 6: In Pride, Northeast (1-2) got its first win by scoring touchdowns in the final two quarters.

Alvin Hayes scored on a 10-yard run to give Tara (0-3) a 6-0 halftime lead. Jonathan Huggins returned an interception 68 yards for a TD to tie it at 6-6 in the third quarter.

Chris Williams, who rushed for a team-high 80 yards on 16 carries, scored on a 9-yard run in the fourth quarter to give the Vikings the win.

LAGRANGE 34, EAST ASCENSION 12: In Lake Charles, LaGrange scored a total of 28 points in the second and third quarters to put the nondistrict game between two Class 5A foes out of reach.

Derek Bellard completed 19 of 39 passes for 260 yards and two TDs to lead LaGrange. Darius Edwards ran for 88 yards on 11 carries for LHS.

Avery Williams rushed for 51 yards on 11 carries for East Ascension (1-2), which lost its second straight game.

LIVONIA 34, CATHOLIC-PC 0: In New Roads, quarterback Justin Mingo compiled 210 yards of total offense to pace Class 3A Livonia (2-1).

Mingo rushed for 78 yards and three TDs, including a 45-yard TD run.

 He also passed for 132 yards. Justin Mougeot also scored on a 75-yard run for the Wildcats. CHSPC (1-2) of Class 1A managed just 186 yards of total offense.
