St. Thomas More High School girls basketball coach Latasha Dorsey has resigned to become an assistant at Western Kentucky University.

A former standout guard for LSU and Abbeville High, Dorsey led STM to the quarterfinals four times in five seasons and had a record of 174-80. She began her coaching career at Istrouma High.

Dorsey becomes the second ex-LSU athlete on the WKU staff, joining softball coach Tyra Perry, a former Zachary High and LSU standout.

• Ward Courville has been selected as the new head football coach-athletic director at Abbeville High. Courville succeeds former LSU player Robert Toomer, who resigned last week.

Toomer reportedly plans to return to the Houston area. Courville has more than 20 years of coaching experience.

Dutchtown High basketball player Christine Conner has signed with Delgado Community College of New Orleans. Conner averaged 17 points and 13 rebounds a game for the District 6-5A champion Griffins.

• Scotlandville volleyball player Arianna King has committed to Texas-based Panola Junior College. King was an All-Metro and All-Division I, District 3 selection last fall.

Plaquemine High seeks an assistant football coach who would serve as defensive coordinator and assist in one other sport.
