LABC banquet to be held Saturday

The 34th Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches Awards Banquet will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Baton Rouge. 

Part of the banquet includes the induction of the 2008 Hall of Fame Class: Former Tulane player Paul Thompson and former Green Wave coach Perry Clark.  The annual Mr. Louisiana Basketball award will also be presented to longtime college referee Gerald Boudreaux of Lafayette, who is currently the coordinator of men’s basketball officials for the Southeastern Conference.

The banquet will include recognition for Louisiana’s major college, small college, junior college and high school players and coaches of the year, as well as the top pro player from the state.

In conjunction with the banquet, the LABC is sponsoring a coaching clinic for high school basketball coaches from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Parkview Baptist High School Gym. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The cost will be $15 per coach for the first coach from each high school and $10 per coach for each additional coach. This cost includes a light breakfast and lunch. For information, contact Northwestern State coach Mike McConathy at (318) 357-4274 or (318) 792-1541.
