Langston Galloway
Christian Life
Galloway helped lead Christian Life to its third straight state title in Class 1A. The 6-foot-3 sophomore was one of three new starters who helped propel the Crusaders to a 41-2 overall record that included 35 straight wins. He averaged 21.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists. The District 7-1A MVP also was an LSWA Class 1A All-State selection.

Almond coached the Spartans to a top five ranking and the school’s first berth in the Top 28 Tournament since 1988. East Ascension had a 35-3 record and won the District 6-5A title. EAHS is the third school Almond has coached to the LHSAA state tourney, following stints at Woodlawn and Lee High.

Veal established herself as the area’s top player before her tragic death last month. The District 6-4A MVP also was selected for the LSWA Class 4A All-State team. A 5-foot-8 junior, Veal averaged 14 points, six rebounds, six assists and 2.8 steals per game for the Panthers. Veal was the only local player considered for the Louisiana Gatorade Circle of Champions MVP award.

Reynolds coached the Warriors to their first Ladies’ Top 28 berth and a Class 4A state championship. Reynolds’ team defeated two-time defending 4A champion Glen Oaks and traditional power Ellender to claim the state title, finishing with a 36-4 overall record.
