The final youth-only day on resident game is today, and it’s for deer hunting in State Areas 1, 4 and 6. This is for ages 17 and younger.

That’s not the case for youth-hunter-only waterfowl hunts Nov. 7-8 in the state’s West Waterfowl Zone and Nov. 14-15 in the East Waterfowl Zone.

Hunters ages 15 and younger are allowed to take part in the youth-only waterfowl weekends. Because ducks and geese are migratory species these regulations are set U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Louisiana sets season dates and bag limits for resident game, species like deer, rabbits, squirrels, quail and other quadrupeds.

Details for all hunting seasona can be found in Louisiana Hunting Regulations booklet and Louisiana Migratory Waterfowl and Birds pamphlet. Both are available at most outdoors stores in the area, or via the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries’ Web site: http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/.
