Elmer's Island to be open Friday through Sunday

Elmer's Island will be open for fishing and outdoor recreation activities beginning a half-hour before sunrise Friday and running through Sunday.

It will be open for day use only and the gates to the island will be locked a half-hour after sunset Sunday. Elmer's Island will remained closed after that until state officials develop a firm management plan for the first coastal public use facility of its kind in Louisiana.
