New for 2008-09

  • The tagging program for deer and turkeys applies to all hunters no matter age or licensing requirements.

     

  • The use of crossbows by all hunters during the archery season for deer.

     

  • The renaming of the “muzzleloader-only” season for deer to “primitive firearms” season allows the inclusion of several breach-loading weapons. See state hunting regulations for approved weapons.

     

    The adult must be 18 years old or older and have a valid hunting license or have a certificate indicating successful completion of a Louisiana-approved Hunter Education Course.

    The adult also must be within “normal audible voice proximity and in direct line of sight of the younger hunter at all times.”
