LSU running back Charles Scott’s regular season is over, and his LSU career might be as well.

Scott suffered a fractured clavicle in Saturday’s 24-15 loss at Alabama when he was dragged down from behind at the end of a season-long 34-yard run.

The Saline native will miss games against Louisiana Tech this week, at Ole Miss on Nov. 21 and the regular-season finale Nov. 28 against Arkansas at Tiger Stadium.

According to www.orthopedics.about.com, the normal recovery time for a broken clavicle is 12 weeks. The Web site also noted surgery is not usually required.

Media relations director Michael Bonnette said LSU’s medical staff isn’t ruling out Scott’s return for a bowl game.

In the loss to the third-ranked Crimson Tide, Scott led LSU with 83 rushing yards. That bumped his season total to 542 yards, and he scored four rushing touchdowns this year.

Scott is the sixth-leading rusher in LSU history with 2,317 yards. He ranks fourth in 100-yard rushing games with eight and fourth in rushing touchdowns with 32, including 18 last season which was the second highest total in program history.

With Scott on the shelf, the most likely candidates to step in as the starting tailback are sophomore Stevan Ridley and senior Keiland Williams.

Ridley has rushed for 81 yards on 10 carries in the last two games and has produced the Tigers’ last two rushing touchdowns.

Williams has accounted for 212 rushing yards on 44 carries with a pair of TDs, but his playing time has dwindled the last several weeks.

Trindon Holliday and Russell Shepard, the Tigers’ two fastest players, could also get more carries in Scott’s absence.
