Scott, Black returning
Report: LaFell to declare for draft
LSU junior running back Charles Scott and junior offensive lineman Ciron Black will return for their senior seasons.
Scott and Black officially announced their intentions today at a news conference at LSU.
However, LSU junior wide receiver Brandon LaFell is declaring for the 2009 NFL Draft, according to an ESPN.com report. 2theadvocate.com has not confirmed this report and LSU head coach Les Miles would not confirm that at the news conference today.
Junior defensive end Ricky Jean-Francois will declare for the NFL draft, Miles said.
Scott, rushed for 1,178 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. He was a second-team All-SEC selection and capped his season with three scores in LSU's 38-3 win against Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
Black (6-foot-5, 325 pounds) was also a second-team All-SEC pick and has started 40 consecutive games.
LaFell was a first-team Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference selection this season after catching 63 passes for 929 yards and eight touchdowns.
According to Chris Steuber, an NFL draft analyst for Scout.com, Black was projected as high as the late first round or early second, while Scott or LaFell could be second-round picks. Steuber has Jean-Francois as a second- or third-round selection.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare their draft intentions is Thursday.
