LSU gets no commitments from game

After receiving a commitment from Houston safety Craig Loston on Friday, LSU appeared in position to possibly pick up its second 2009 football pledge in as many days.

But the Tigers didn’t get any good news during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, leaving LSU at 21 commitments entering tonight’s Under Armour All-American Game.

Detroit lineman William Campbell, who played for the East in the Army all-star game, chose Michigan over LSU and Miami late in the third quarter. The Cass Tech standout was one of seven players to declare his college choice throughout the game, shown by NBC live from San Antonio.

Had he committed to LSU, Campbell would have been the latest five-star prospect to join the highly rated class. Ranked among the nation’s top 40 prospects by Rivals.com and Scout.com, the 6-foot-5, 310-pounder is known for his athleticism and versatility.

The Tigers can now turn their attention to tonight’s Under Armour Game, where four of the six players due to commit are high on LSU’s wish list. LSU is in the mix for Utah offensive lineman John Martinez, as well as the trio of athlete Ray Ray Armstrong, receiver Andre Debose and defensive lineman Dyron Dye, teammates from Seminole High in Sanford, Fla.

The game will be shown live at 7 p.m. on ESPN, with coverage from Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
