North Carolina has a 3-1 lead after scratching out a run in the top of the fifth inning.
UNC's No. 9 hitter, Ryan Graepel, drew a full-count leadoff walk. Dustin Ackley bounced a chopper into center field for a single, moving Graepel to second.
Graepel went to third and Ackley to second after Kyle Shelton's sacrifice bunt. LSU intentionally walked Tim Fedroff to load the bases with one out.
Graepel scored on Tim Federowicz's fielder's choice, but LSU shortstop DJ LeMahieu probably saved a run with a diving stop to his right and throwing for a 5-4 putout on Fedroff at second.
Kyle Seager flied out to Jared Mitchell on the warning track in left field to end the inning.
