7:43 p.m. -- Bradford's warming up

OMAHA, Neb. -- Jared Bradford is in the bullpen getting ready. He ran a few sprints in the outfield, but now he's about to get loose in the pen.

Matt Harvey is not among the UNC pitchers long-tossing in the outfield, and there's nobody throwing in the bullpen. I wonder if that means he's not going to pitch when LSU bats in the bottom of the third. He's had the longer delay, because UNC was batting when the delay began.

Colin Bates, who was in the bullpen when Harvey got into trouble, is one of the guys throwing long. He's a possibility to watch for. He's a redshirt freshman right-hander. Pitching coach Scott Forbes is talking to him in the bullpen now as I type this.

There are other UNC pitchers in the outfield long-tossing, so don't read too much into this. I suspect Mike Fox might be waiting to see if his team scores some runs and puts together a big offensive outburst in the top of the third before deciding how to handle his pitching for the bottom of the inning.

Bradford is flat-ground throwing in the outfield near the LSU bullpen. Nobody is in the LSU bullpen.
