Paul Mainieri said he'll start junior left-handed pitcher Ryan Verdugo (8-2, 3.61) at 6 o'clock tomorrow against Southern Miss in the winners-bracket game at the regional at Alex Box Stadium.
Southern Miss plans to start freshman right-hander Todd McInnis (6-2, 5.10).
LSU lost a coin flip with the Golden Eagles and will be the visiting team, so the Tigers will be able to wear their sunflower-gold jerseys today. They'll have to sit in the third base dugout, unfamiliar territory for them at The Box except for intrasquad games.
The Tigers have won the last 15 times they've played in the LSU-gold jerseys, including that streak of 14 consecutive games in which they wore them without interruption. That streak ended today when LSU wore white as the home team under NCAA rules.
