LSU BASEBALL BLOG

2:45 p.m. -- It's 7-0

LSU increased its lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Derek Helenihi grounded out to shortstop Jordan Bush, who has good hands and a smooth style. I like watching him.

Blake Dean took the next pitch for a ball, and Randy Rosetta said of pitcher Ehern Moreno, "I don't think he's going to get the next pitch back." Dean sent it out of the park down the right-field line for a home run and a 7-0 LSU lead.

It was Dean's second home run of the game and his fourth RBI. Randy's pleased with himself, as I was when I called a Dean bomb at the SEC tournament in Hoover. By now, though, it's almost too easy.

Micah Gibbs made the second out on a fly to center field. Matt Clark doubled off the right-field wall. D.J. LeMahieu made the third out on a fly to shallow left field.

It's 7-0 LSU through five.

Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark" is playing on the stadium loudspeakers. Austin Ross is warming up in the LSU bullpen as Jordan Brown goes out for the sixth inning.
