LSU BASEBALL BLOG

8:52 p.m. -- LSU leads 15-5

AUBURN, Ala. -- LSU leads Auburn 15-5 as we head to the bottom of the eighth inning at Plainsman Park.

Auburn committed a two-out error that enabled LSU to score two runs, and Blake Dean hit a two-run homer right after that to make it 15-5. LSU got on base before the error with a single (D.J. LeMahieu) and walk (Michael Hollander). Center fielder Trent Mummey misplayed what appeared to be a routine fly by Jared Mitchell, making it a three-base error.

Dean hit the next pitch over the wall in right field.

Friendly reminder: To make sure I don't miss any of the LSU players as they head to the bus after the game, I'm going to go down to field level a little bit early in the ninth inning and work my way through the crowd to get in position for postgame interviews.

That means I might not have a scoring change or final score for you right away, but I have to make sure I get to the LSU players and coaches -- fresh off their clinching of the SEC West championship -- for my story for Saturday editions of The Advocate.

Most of you know the drill, and I appreciate your patience. I'll be back as soon as possible, and if something really crazy happens to threaten LSU's winning streak, I'll get back even sooner.

Later.
