AUBURN, Ala. -- LSU leads 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth inning after a four-run inning in the top half.
Matt Clark drew a leadoff walk. D.J. LeMahieu made the first out on a fly to right field, caught on the dive by Mike Bianucci.
Leon Landry singled. Ryan Schimpf singled. Michael Hollander singled for one RBI, and Landry scored when left fielder Brian Fletcher made an error trying to come up with Hollander's ball.
Jared Mitchell singled for two more runs and a 6-5 LSU lead.
Auburn replaced starter Taylor Thompson with Evan Crawford, who threw one pitch and got out of trouble with a double play off the bat of Micah Gibbs, 6-4-3.
The good folks at Auburn just played "Holiday Road" by Lindsey Buckingham between innings. They know I love that song, and they make sure and cue it up every two years for me. Some day I'll have to put a buck in the tip jar for the DJ.
I'm not going to tell them that a year or so ago I finally figured out I could buy it for 99 cents on RealPlayer and listen to it anytime I want to. They might stop playing it for me every two years when LSU comes to town.
In 2006, I think they waited until the last day to play it for me. This time, they're 2-for-2, having played it last night and tonight.
I just love the song, and it doesn't hurt at all that it's from "National Lampoon's Vacation," one of my favorite comedies.
7:32 update: Ryan Byrd retired Auburn in order in the bottom of the fourth, including two strikeouts.
