Auburn and Mississippi State are out of the race for the eight-team SEC tournament. LSU clinched a spot tonight and moved into second place overall, one win away from a divisional championship. An Alabama loss Friday at Georgia would give LSU the SEC West title without LSU having to win another game.
Of course, now the Tigers want to win as many as possible to lock up a regional and -- dare they think it? -- a possible top-eight seeding for the NCAA tournament. Does that sound far-fetched? Well, a 14-game winning streak would have sounded ridiculous three weeks ago, and look at where LSU is now.
In fact, look at the standings above, and ask yourself if they looked anything like that three weeks ago. Could South Carolina miss the SEC tournament?
